Non-slip products:
Some of the clip styles can be lined to give them more grip in the hair and thus prevent slipping.
Pins cannot be lined.
Snap clips are lined with a plastic grip (as velcro is too thick).
Alligator Clips and French Barrettes can be lined with either velcro or the plastic grip.
Velcro:
I suggest this for older girls or, those with thick heavy hair. I use the "rough" side of the velcro and it provides excellent non-slip grip. It releases easily but may grab a few pieces of hair so remove gently and if the girl you are ordering for is particularly sensitive, I would recommend the plastic grip.
Plastic:
Although not as secure as the velcro grip, this still provides excellent hold. It releases from the hair with absolute ease so I recommend it for younger children and also older girls who are more sensitive.
Side of wear:
Some embellishments cannot be worn interchangeably on either side of the head; as they would then be upside down on one side. When this is the case, there is a drop down option when you order the clip requesting which side it is intended for wear. If you are purchasing a gift, I would suggest the RIGHT side option as that is most standard wear. If you are purchasing two "Fluerettes" to make a set, please select one for the right and one for the left. "Fleurettes" that are sold in a set of 2 will have one for each side.
Care of your "Fleurette":
All ribbons are sealed to prevent fraying and, embellishments are secured with both glue, and stitches (where possible) and the clip is lined with a non-slip product of your choice.
To prolong the life of your "Fleurette", remove before bathing or swimming.
